Software factories at civilian agencies; Defending the cyber perimeter across the country

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has one of the first civilian software factories. USPTO uses the software factory to support a remote workforce of nearly 500 thousand employees and has shortened the development of programs from years to weeks

The Department of Health and Human Services has a nationwide network of regional and field offices across the country. The agency says more than 70% of its employees work outside the Washington, D.C. area.
